A program of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research
New materials are the engine for new production processes and products. In addition, new materials make a significant contribution to cost reduction in production. After all, the share of material costs is the cost of production in the manufacturing industry, around 50 percent. Savings through the efficient use of resources can lead to considerable competitive advantage.
With the "Materials Innovations for Industry and Society - WING", which was launched in early 2004, will give the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the interdisciplinary materials technologies new impetus. Both the classical material development as well as the material-based chemical technology and nanotechnology materials concepts in their program and provide synergy effects will be felt for a new wave in industrial product development.
